An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new Advanced Senior Pharmacy Support Worker to join our dynamic, forward thinking Oncology aseptic team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.

Qualifications / training required

Essential

  • Numerate and literate e.g. GCSE in Maths and English A* to C or equivalent
  • HNC (or equivalent) in a science based subject OR 2 A Level passes (or equivalent) in a science subject OR equivalent knowledge and experience of aseptic pharmaceutical procedures gained through work experience and training (experience must include extensive understanding of clean room processes and aseptic operations).
  • NVQ2 Pharmacy Services or able to commit to completing within 18 months of starting (usually starts within 6 months of appointment)
  • Pre and In process checking qualification (PIPC) or achievable within 18 months of appointment

Desirable

  • NHS Improvement Fundamentals 101 – Quality Improvement Theory
  • NHS Improvement Fundamentals 201 – Quality Improvement Tools

Previous or relevant experience necessary

Essential

  • Aseptic services experience or laboratory-based procedures experience
  • To demonstrate ability to follow processes and problem solve
  • Dealing with customers/patients

Desirable

  • Dispensing of medicines
  • Experience of JAC or similar computer /stock control system
  • Experience of ordering and stock control
  • Checking of medicines (ACPT or PIPC qualification)
