Job Summary

The Enterprise Data Visualisation team develops dashboards and associated best practice for a range of products and programmes in the new NHS England. With development currently done in Tableau and SQL members will be experts in developing dashboards, working closely with users, delivery and product colleagues.

As an analytics developer, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across the enterprise data visualisation team and wider stakeholders across NHSE to help develop & deploy analytical products for wider consumption.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of this role will include:o Leading dashboard development across multiple projects and successful delivery.o Building data visualisation capability by mentoring others in industry best practice and spread expertise across the NHS.o Building data visualisation with a BI tool (Tableau, Power BI, QlikView etc.)o Writing programming languages (i.e. SQL, python etc)o Applying project principles techniques and tools such as Agile / DevOps and product development life cycle.o Promoting the adoption of NHS dashboard standards across the organisation.o Effectively communicate key findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, dealing tactfully with pushback and difficult messaging

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to master’s level in relevant subject or equivalent level of experience of working at a similar level in specialist area

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Comprehensive experience of project principles techniques and tools such as Prince 2 / Agile and Managing Successful Projects
  • Must be able to provide and receive highly complex, sensitive or contentious information, negotiate with senior stakeholders on difficult and controversial issues, and present complex and sensitive information to large and influential groups.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Have an understanding of the background to and aims of current healthcare policy and appreciate the implications of this on engagement.
  • Extensive knowledge in using data analytics and preparation techniques to transform raw data into meaningful insights by making use of advanced analytical software’s such as SQL, Tableau/Qlik, Alteryx/SSIS/Azure Data factory (ADF) and any other statistical software (R and Python).
