Job Summary

We are looking for a financial professional to work within the Surgery & Cancer Board. You will have financial management experience within the NHS, ideally acute sector, and will be responsible for the accurate and timely financial reporting of the Theatres & Anaesthesia Division.You will produce monthly budgetary reports and support budget holders in understanding their financial performance, investigating variances and providing analysis as required. You will be a strong communicator and will have the ability to build and maintain relationships within the Division and be able to present complex financial information ensuring engagement and understanding.The successful candidate will be familiar with a broad range of financial management systems and processes and possess strong Excel skills and will have excellent attention to detail.You will be expected to make an active contribution to the department and will be a team player within the Board finance team.

Person Specification

Knowledge and Qualifications

Essential

  • Studying towards CCAB qualification or demonstratable experience (degree level experience)
  • Computer literacy in packages such as Excel and Word. Expected to design and create reports using financial spreadsheets and databases
  • Possess numeracy & literacy skills – up to ‘A level or equivalent

Experience

Essential

  • Minimum 2 years continuous NHS financial management experience
  • Experience of working in Health Sector
  • Have experience of work undertaken unsupervised
  • Use of computerised accounting systems and spreadsheets

Desirable

  • Financial management experience of working in an acute NHS trust in a clinical area

Skills and Abilities

Essential

  • Ability to use computers to produce information, particularly Excel and Access
  • Ability to use written and spoken means of communication to clearly convey ideas and information

Communication

Essential

  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills (verbally and written)

Personal Qualities

Essential

  • The ability to work as part of a team, building relationships and supporting others
