Main duties of the job

We are looking for an Assistant Practitioner Physiotherapy to join our Learning Disabilities Team.

The Physiotherapy team provides specialist support to enable people to live their lives fully. We work with people with learning disabilities, their families and paid carers in community settings as part of a multi – agency team. We provide assessment and treatment interventions that aim to maximise a person’s quality of life

Your role will be absolutely key in the support of our patients. You will help with the undertaking of treatment plans and use your clinical judgement to keep people as safe as possible. Full duties can be found in the job description.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Functional Skills at Level 2 (Literacy and numeracy/ GCSE grade A-C or equivalent in English and Maths)
  • Evidence of Foundation Degree Level study (Level 5)

Desirable

  • Mentorship / Coaching qualification

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working as part of a team providing care and support to people
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Senior Healthcare worker

Desirable

  • Experience with the use of Microsoft Office and a variety of IT packages (E-Pay / E-roster / AT-P / CIS)

Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of up to date clinical practice and understands the role and remit of a Band 4
  • Awareness of professional issues and recent developments in the NHS and Primary Care including Clinical Governance, NICE, Essence of Care

Skills & Abilities

Essential

  • Ability to organise own work, ability to cope with change, ability to use own initiative and moderate level IT skills
  • Sound communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written)

Desirable

  • Ability to motivate and organise others to ensure best practice, ability to work under pressure and flexible and adaptable

Ability to Manage

Essential

  • Ability to prioritise care delivery in a professional manner, taking into account Trust policies and procedures
  • Able to support the implementation of local and national agenda’s for health under the guidance of the Registered Practitioner

Desirable

  • Ability to manage own time effectively
