Job Summary
We are currently seeking a compassionate and skilled Psychological Therapist to join our Tier 4 CAMHS team at the North Wales Adolescent service in Abergele. This role is crucial in supporting the delivery of targeted therapeutic interventions to young people experiencing a range of psychological difficulties and mental health problems.
We are looking for an individual with proven experience and suitable qualifications in delivering therapies like CBT and DBT, particularly to young people, excellent communication skills and the ability to empathise with and support young people through their challenges.
We are looking for a therapist who holds formal accreditation (e.g. with the BABCP or the SfDBT). We are also happy to consider applicants who are currently working towards accreditation. Such applicants can be employed into a development post and given dedicated time to complete their accreditation.
Main duties of the job
As a Psychological Therapist within our team, you will be instrumental in delivering evidence-based therapies to young people accessing tier 4 services. Your primary focus will be to work with young people, assessing their needs, formulating treatment plans, and providing direct therapeutic interventions and support to the wider MDT utilising your specific therapeutic skills.
You will collaborate closely with other team members within the Tier 4 CAMHS framework, contributing to the overall care planning and delivery. You will play a vital role in guiding and training junior staff, helping them develop their skills in delivering psychological interventions. Your contribution will ensure that our team continues to provide high-quality care and stays abreast of the latest therapeutic techniques.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
- Psychological Therapy qualification (e.g. Diploma/Masters in CBT, DBT, EMDR) and accreditation, (e.g. BABCP or SfDBT accreditation) OR Currently undertaking training towards appropriate accreditation achievable within 12 – 18 months OR Equivalent: e.g. Post-graduate Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the British Psychological Society or doctoral level qualification in Counselling Psychology where CBT is one of the therapy modalities passed. Plus, HCPC registration.
- Appropriate health care professional training required for governance. May be nursing, social work, occupational therapy, arts therapy or psychology.
- Significant experience delivering psychological therapy and interventions to young people.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
Desirable
- Relevant additional training in psychological therapies relevant for treating moderate to severe psychological difficulties and mental health conditions within a Tier 4 CAMHS setting such as PTSD, anxiety, and depression (eg EMDR, Mentalisation Based Therapy, Compassion-Focussed Therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Brief Solution Focussed Therapy).
- Supervision training.
- Post-graduate knowledge of research and evaluation methods.
Experience

- Demonstrated experience of working in physical or mental health services working with people with psychological difficulties and mental health problems
- Excellent knowledge and background of working with young people in a health or social care setting.

Training

- Able to attend supervision training if not already trained, and other psychological therapy training as the post develops
