Job Summary
NUH is looking to hire an Advanced Analyst (Band 7) to join our Family Health analytical team. This role primarily involves providing analytical expertise and support to the Family Health Division with a focus on Maternity.
The Family Health Analytical team is looking for someone with strong SQL skills, and also has significant experience of working with R and collaborating across team to ensure reproduceable outputs.
The Advanced Analyst will be responsible for delivering analytical expertise, presenting high-quality data, and providing tailored system support.

Main duties of the job
Provide high-level expertise in the analysis and presentation of complex healthcare data to deliver actionable insights for a wide range of audiences.
Lead projects by:
Collaborating with users to understand requirements, identifying data sources, and selecting appropriate analytical techniques.
Generating specifications and planning analytical projects.
Designing metrics and establishing measurement requirements to demonstrate success.
Designing and delivering analysis for evaluation, identifying appropriate data sources and methods.
Developing tools to support data capture, extraction, linkage, analysis, and presentation.
Offer expert advice to senior managers on system management/data/analytical issues, including techniques and accurate interpretation.

- Educated to degree level or equivalent learning/experience

- Masters or above in relevant fields e.g. informatics, analysis, statistics or operational research

- Proven experience working within an Information or analysis role
- Detailed analysis & validation of various types of data to inform assessment of performance of complex organisations and to help identify opportunities for improvement.
- Highly developed specialist knowledge underpinned by theory and experience in using statistical & analytical techniques and information analysis, acquired though degree level or equivalent plus additional specialist knowledge acquired through post graduate diploma level / or equivalent relevant experience
- Very high level of computer literacy & technical competence – including understanding of a range of additional data analysis querying tools (e.g. MS SQL etc)
- Experience in developing tools using Business Intelligence software (e.g. Qlikview, SSRS)

Desirable
- Experience of developing and maintaining code using R
- Experience of using Git to collaboratively develop and maintain code.
- Detailed knowledge & understanding of Health Informatics – including healthcare datasets (particularly secondary care), data quality, national strategic control mechanisms for data management, definitional guidance & data protection
