Main duties of the job

The Senior BI Analyst delivers the analytical, report writing, and information development commitments within the EPR BI workstream. The Senior BI Analyst will become a Meditech data model expert, have SQL experience and will need to currently understand business objectives, NHS statutory & contractual deliverables, questions, and problems. They will have the ability in obtaining and presenting data to address these.

They will support the documentation for development, including transformations, derivations and assumptions and will lead on the testing process for the designated developments.

Job responsibilities

1. Works with stakeholders to understand extremely complex reporting needs across multiple existing systems. Applies Meditech build and design expertise to analyse current business practices to enable full documentation and provide the recommended reporting solutions.

2. Ensure that the full reporting system is configured to meet new best practice ways of working to achieve cash releasing and qualitative benefits with improved workflows whilst being compliant with statutory and contractual commitments. Work across application modules to meet integration needs and to ensure the full patient pathway is supported by the system.

3. Plays a key role supporting the Lead BI Analysts to ensure reports and extracts are delivered on time and accurately reflect the business requirements. The senior BI analyst is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of specifications, assisting in quality assurance testing of files, reports and outputs and ensuring timely delivery and coordination with the service line stakeholders.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree level or equivalent experience relevant to the role.
  • Postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience or qualification in relevant area or equivalent experience in a Health Informatics environment.

Desirable

  • Management qualification or equivalent experience. Qualification in Project Management.
  • Qualification in Project Management

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of training staff on technical systems. Experience of data requirements gathering and report specification documentation.
  • Experience of data requirements gathering and report specification documentation.

Desirable

  • Experience of managing projects including use of project plans, identifying risks and issues and mitigation plans
  • EPR certification or other clinical systems experience.

Essential

  • Knowledge and experience of programming languages, SQL Server Management Studio and scripting languages. Excellent administrative and organisational skills.
