The post holders will provide a high quality and professional 2nd line support application support service to all applications/clinical system users within the Trust. You will contribute to and support the development of an application design methodology and capability within the team. including requirements management, design, build, deploy, optimise, and support, undertaking monitored support processes, with incident and problems.

The Trust is part of a Group arrangement with Epsom & St Helier Hospitals which has committed to the development of a new shared domain which will make it easier for patients to be treated and for clinicians to work collaboratively across Southwest London, Surrey and beyond. As this new shared EPR domain will be based on the current St George’s domain, it is anticipated that this role will support that development at St Georges

Main duties of the job

The post holders will lead a small team of analysts to provide the build and support for applications and clinical systems functionality.You will support divisional project initiatives with information and advice as required.

The post holders will lead their team, sharing functionality within the Millennium Application as well as other specialist modules of the Trust EPR application or other systems (PAS, Order Comms, Critical Care, Digital Dictation/Correspondence, Netcall etc), providing specialist subject matter expertise.

The post holders will provide proactive support to Divisions’ and Corporate Directorates’ senior managers, providing them with evidence and advice to support service planning decisions.

The post holders will work with the Applications and Clinical Systems Technical Support Teams to monitor system performance of the applications, utilisation and to improve performance of the system and the support service; and with the Testing team to ensure the application is tested to be clinically safe and complies with information governance principles.

The post holders will ensure, advise, design, and support the development and use of safe processes for the use of applications within the Applications and Clinical and technical support services.

Person Specification

Knowledge

Essential

  • In depth knowledge of Cerner and other application systems for all Acute workflows

Experience

Essential

  • At least eight years post degree experience in EPRs and clinical applications and systems, application build and support, with an understanding of Cerner and/or other application systems.
  • In depth knowledge and experience of the Cerner system for the modules within the remit of this post
  • Experience in building and maintaining working relationships at a senior level

Desirable

  • Acute NHS experience
  • Experience with NHS information systems
  • Experienced in use of Microsoft suite (MS PowerPoint, Visio, MS Teams etc)

Skills

Essential

  • Good understanding of the clinical workflow, systems and information within the system links to the use within clinical care
  • Strong Excel, other MS applications and SQL skills (to be able to write CCL)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to diagnose complex problems, situations and or information and make informed judgement to formulate solutions and recommend/decide on best course of action

Desirable

  • Strong IDT technical experience and knowledge
  • Strong analytical skills

Qualifications

Essential

  • Masters, MBA in a numerate or management specialism or equivalent experience
  • Qualifications and training and/or equivalent experience in managing staff, evidence of senior experience in the NHS or private sector

Desirable

  • Relevant professional registration (e.g. UK Council for Health Informatics Professions; Operational Society Fellowship)
  • ITIL qualifications to Foundation level
