Job Summary
We are seeking to recruit a 1.0 wte Band 4 Assistant Psychologist to join a welcoming Integrated Health and Emotional Wellbeing Service at Lansdowne Secure Children’s Home in Hailsham, East Sussex. It is an exciting opportunity for a creative individual with good communication and organisation skills and an interest in children and young people’s mental health to work in a dynamic, multi-agency work environment, under the direct supervision of a Clinical Psychologist. You will also be working alongside a Principal Psychologist, a Mental Health Nurse, Physical Health Nurses, an Occupational Therapist and a supportive admin team.
Lansdowne Secure Children’s Home is an 11 bedded social care provision for young people aged 12-17. The young people have complex needs and are described as ‘high need/high vulnerability/high risk’.
The health team’s focus is informed by the Framework for Integrated Care (also known as SECURE STAIRS). This aims to support trauma-informed care and formulation-driven, evidence-based, whole-systems approaches to creating change for young people within the Children and Young People’s Secure Estate (CYPSE).
Main duties of the job
As an Assistant Psychologist, you will be joining our small and welcoming multi-disciplinary health team whose role is to support both the young people and the residential staff within the home.
The post holder’s main responsibilities will be to support the projects relating to service implementation and evaluation which will include the collection of qualitative and quantitative outcome data sets (e.g. depression and anxiety scales); to manage spreadsheets and to use IT skills, critical analysis and presentation skills to conduct evaluations, audits and research; to support assessment (e.g. mental health screening and cognitive assessments) and treatment interventions (e.g. emotional regulation skills work) undertaken by the service as appropriate to level of competence and training; and to contribute to the psycho-educational training groups provided for care staff (e.g. self-harm training and the Therapeutic Parenting group).
