Job Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and well-motivated Biomedical Scientist/Trainee Biomedical Scientist to join the Microbiology team at Pathlinks, Scunthorpe General Hospital. The laboratory is equipped with a variety of analysers including the BioMerieux BacT/Alert, BioMerieux Vitek, Cepheid GeneXpert, Roche Cobas 5800, Qiagen Qiastat and Beckman Coulter iQ200.
The laboratory delivers a range of investigations, is UKAS accredited to ISO 15189:2012 and is an IBMS approved training laboratory.
You will work as part of the Microbiology team to provide a high-quality service while adhering to the Trust values of Compassion, Honesty, Respect and Teamwork
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work as a Biomedical Scientist performing a range of microbiological techniques to assist in the clinical diagnosis of microbiological disease. They will rotate through all sections of Microbiology and Serology.
Following training, the post holder will be expected to participate in the 24/7 shift rota which will include working weekends, bank holidays and night shifts.
You will assist the Deputy Laboratory Managers with tasks such as supervision, training and maintaining UKAS accreditation.

- IBMS accredited degree in Biomedical Sciences

- IBMS Registration portfolio
- HCPC registered
Occupational Experience
Essential
- Previous NHS laboratory experience.
- 1 year NHS laboratory experience.
- 1-3 NHS laboratory experience.
- >4 NHS laboratory experience.
Desirable
- Experience of broad range of manual methods conducted within a Microbiology laboratory
- Experience of broad range of analysers used within a Microbiology laboratory
- Experience of broad range of serological and molecular methods used within a Microbiology laboratory
