An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the mortuary team at Conquest Hospital. The successful candidate will have relevant mortuary experience and be qualified to RSPH Level 4 diploma or old style equivalent with current professional registration as an APT with current post mortem skills.
The post holder will be part of the mortuary team providing an efficient and effective mortuary service to the Trust and Coroners unit, this includes admission, release, post mortem and caring of patients with dignity and respect whilst in ESHT care. The post holder will be expected to work cross site regularly and out of hours as required and be able to work with emotionally distressing situations in a professional manner, committed, enthusiastic and an eye for detail. The post holder will be working to and maintaining HTA License & ISO 15189 regulation.
There will be a second practical interview for suitable candidates, date to be confirmed.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the role will be to provide a full mortuary service for the Trust. Perform post mortems, tissue traceability, liaise with the coroner office, bereavement and Medical Examiners office. Ensure stock levels are maintained, conduct regular audits and participate in the reviewing and writing of Standard Operating Procedures as necessary. To participate in the on call rota, currently 1: 4. Have a working knowledge of the Human Tissue Authority and participate in cross site cover (Eastbourne) as required.
There is a requirement to participate in regular continued personal development, sharing good practice within the team.

- Educated to postgraduate diploma level or proven equivalent experience
- RSPH Certificate and Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology or Level 4 Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology (RSPH) or Level 3 Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology (RSPH) with substantial post qualification APT experience
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Registration with AHCS and/or SC
