Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to be fully funded and supported to train as a systemic family therapist with Children & Young People’s Mental Health Service Wirral 0-18 team. The applicant will have either be currently undertaking the MSc Systemic Family training or to be able to demonstrate that they have secured as place on the 2025 intake of students.

 

Main duties of the job

The post will include working with families in an established team as part of the longer term plans to develop a Family Therapy Service. The successful candidate will take up a training post on a Band 6, which will then lead to a full-time Band 7 Family Therapist position once they have successfully completed the MSc and registered with the UKCP/AFT as a Family Therapist. Candidates will need to have completed two years recognised systemic training or one-year CYIAPT to be eligible for the training post.

While training the successful candidate will also support the existing Systemic Family Practitioners, hold a range of systemic practise cases and uphold all other expectations of working within a CYPMH service.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Core Profession (Social Work, Nurse, Allied Health Professional
  • Professional registration with Social Work England or NMC or HCPC
  • Nationally recognised post graduate training in Systemic Family Practise
  • Evidence of having been accepted onto and begun undertaking MSc in Family & Systemic Psychotherapy

Desirable

  • Training in another psychological therapy e.g. EMDR, VIG

Knowledge and Expertise

Essential

  • Knowledge of a range of psychological therapies and interventions applicable to work in clinical settings
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of specialist therapeutic approaches e.g. CBT, Family Therapy
  • Knowledge of Child Protection workings and Practice.
  • Working knowledge of Children related legislation
  • Experience of inter-agency working
  • Experience of writing, implementing and evaluating Care / Treatment Plans

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in a clinical or community setting with client groups and service settings directly relevant to child mental health related field
  • Experience of providing a range of psychological therapeutic interventions, Significant post qualification experience of working within a CYPMHS or Child Mental Health related field.
  • Recognised experience of working within an environment where evidence based interventions have been delivered
  • Undertaking formal and informal clinical risk assessments and risk management planning
  • Undertaking mental health assessments
  • IT skills, including using databases, Microsoft Office and clinical systems

Desirable

  • Experience of working in multicultural, multi-faith contexts and with a diverse range of people with differing identities
