This is an exciting new position for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to join the Sapphire Continuity of Care team at the Princess Royal University Hospital.
The successful applicant will assist, support and work in collaboration with the Sapphire midwifery team across the Bromley Borough.
Main duties of the job
The Continuity of Carer Advocate will assist, support and work in collaboration with the team to provide antenatal and postnatal care to women within the Sapphire caseload commonly within service users own homes. They will get to know service users throughout their entire pregnancy journey and postnatally, occasionally having the opportunity to support the Sapphire midwives in the intrapartum period
There is scope for the applicant to work autonomously and under their own initiative, to an extent managing their own workload alongside the midwife’s schedule. The applicant will have an important role working alongside the wider multi-disciplinary team and offering key support to families with underlying vulnerabilities and additional needs.
Additional support and training will be given to the applicant where necessary to support with this role and to further develop their knowledge and skills- base and explore pathways for progression where appropriate.
Person Specification
Essential and Desirable
Essential
- Educated to GCSE A* – C Level (or equivalent) in English, Maths and IT
- Has an NVQ (or equivalent) in a health and social care related subject at Level 4 or above
- Completion of the Care Certificate
- Clinical skills competencies including maternal and neonatal observations, neonatal screening and venepuncture
- Strong written and verbal communication skills: including IT, written and oral
Desirable
- Significant experience of working in a healthcare setting with vulnerable people
- Good understanding and experience of the safeguarding process and child protection procedures
- Good understanding of the benefits of a CoC model
- Experience of continuing personal and professional development
- Understanding of the role and own professional boundaries and limitations
