Job Summary

The paediatric and adolescent psychological service at University College Hospitals is looking for a highly motivated assistant psychologist to join the team. Previous experience and an interest in working with children, young people and families is essential.

You will be part of a lively and experienced team. The post holder will have an opportunity to utilise research skills for outcome evaluation, audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team.

 

Main duties of the job

The role will involve clinical input to different clinical groups as well as providing data management and administrative support to the service.

An important part of the post will be to provide clinical and administrative support for the ongoing group management programme in the diabetes service. This includes the Tree of life groups and groups to support transition to secondary school for children living with diabetes.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working with children and young people
  • Experience of co-ordinating and evaluating group programmes for young people with chronic illness

Skills and Abilities

Essential

  • Ability to plan, suggest and undertake research, audit and service evaluation Activities.
  • Ability to form good working relationships and interact effectively with staff from all disciplines in a multidisciplinary setting.

Personal and People Development

Essential

  • Ability to accept and use supervision appropriately and effectively.

Specific Requirements

  • Must be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people in a sensitive, caring and non-judgemental manner.
