Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Cardio-Respiratory Department at Chesterfield Royal Hospital for a Trainee Echocardiographer.

Due to service expansion, we are looking to recruit a suitable candidate who has either completed the Scientist Training Programme (STP) or currently undertaking the Echocardiography Training Programme (ETP). Candidates should have successfully completed the written part of the BSE accreditation process and be working towards their practical exam.

Experience of working in a healthcare science environment, performing echocardiograms is essential. Successful candidates will be expected to work across both Chesterfield Royal Hospital and the local Community Diagnostics Centre (CDC) sites.

 

Main duties of the job

  • Undertake professional qualification (BSE).
  • Contribute to the delivery of the Echocardiogram service at Chesterfield Royal Hospital.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Successfully completed the Scientist Training Programme or commenced the Echocardiography Training Programme (ETP)
  • Successfully completed the BSE written exam

Desirable

  • SCST Certificate in Electrocardiography or SCST Foundation in Essential ECG interpretation

Experience

Essential

  • Basic understanding of the Cardio-Vascular system
  • Performing echocardiograms to full BSE minimum dataset
  • Working with confidential information
  • Ability to work under remote supervision

Desirable

  • Experience of working within healthcare science
  • Experience of working with hospital booking/reporting systems

Skills

Essential

  • Ability to perform basic cardiac investigations (ECG, ambulatory ECG fitting, ambulatory BP fitting)
  • Good communication skills with the ability to communicate with all grades of clinical staff across the range of specialities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
