Job Summary
We have a vacancy for a full time, permanent assistant in the neuromuscular physiotherapy team. We are seeking an enthusiastic new member to our team who has experience of working with children with mobility and physical difficulties in a health, nursery or education setting.
The clinical team currently comprises of a Band 8, 4 x Band 7s (1 full time and 3 part time), one rotational and one non-rotational Band 6 and the Band 4 Physiotherapy Assistant.
We are part of the wider Physiotherapy Department and Neuromuscular Teams. Within Neuromuscular there is a major emphasis on teaching and research with 4 Research Physiotherapists with whom we work closely.
The Dubowitz Neuromuscular Service is the largest Paediatric Neuromuscular Service in the country taking children from all over the UK and abroad for diagnosis and on-going assessment and management.
Main duties of the job
This role involves both clinical and administrative/house-keeping duties, with play being important parts of the work. You will be working closely with the multidisciplinary team, as well as physiotherapy colleagues. The role includes assessing patients with outcome measures and assisting the Physiotherapists in this outpatient setting. The work is mainly clinic based but children can be seen on the wards when admitted for specialist treatments, with respiratory problems, for orthopaedic surgery and for hydrotherapy and rehabilitation.
Good communication skills including good written English and team working abilities are essential for this post. You will also be part of the wider physiotherapy assistant team, taking care of stock and ensuring the ongoing maintenance of the hydrotherapy pool and resuscitation equipment therefore good organisational skills are also essential.

- Previous experience of working in the NHS, nursery or UK education system

- Knowledge of health and safety regulations in the work environment and their relevance to childcare.
