Eating Disorders Community Support Worker: Sponsorship Available

As part of the Community Eating Disorder Service and with support from the Multi-Disciplinary Team the post holder will work with service users to implement agreed plans to maximize independence in relation to daily living and access a wide range of educational, volunteering, employment, sports, leisure and creative activities to support the service user’s recovery. Clinical supervision will be provided by a qualified team member.

The post holder will be predominantly based within the CYP (Children and Young People) Eating Disorder Team but at times may be required to support treatment within our Adult Eating Disorder Service. Our main base is at Hopewood, but the post holder will be required to travel to other bases, alongside offering home treatment and community outreach work. This role requires the individual to support service users with their recovery, working with individuals and in groups. To achieve this the post holder will need to plan, carry out individual sessions which may be in the service user’s home or community settings, this may also include support to families/carers. In relation to this the post holder must understand the treatment aims and objectives identified by the MDT. The post holder will need to communicate effectively with the multi-disciplinary team.

 

Main duties of the job

To work closely/under supervision of the team in receiving referrals and developing required support packages.Carry out a range of group and individual work under supervision of qualified team member. To follow the care plan supporting service users developing skills in activities of daily living, meaningful occupation and to become integrated into a range of community resources/facilities, ensuring service users experience a smooth transition into community opportunities. To work in partnership with others, promoting the work of the service and providing positive representation. To provide support around the physical health management of service users. Ensure confidentiality of service user information at all times

Essential

  • A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use is required for this post; however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.

Qualifications

Essential

  • GCSE / GCE or equivalent in English

Desirable

  • NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in Mental Health

Training

Desirable

  • Relevant training in mental health
  • Relevant training in eating disorders

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working with people with complex health mental health and/or social care needs
  • Experience of managing aspects of physical health care e.g. weight monitoring, GP liaison

Desirable

  • Experience of working in community
  • Experience of working within or alongside MDT
  • Experience of working with individuals who suffer with an eating disorder

Knowledge
