Job Summary

 

We are looking for an enthusiastic Dental Core Trainee to join our Oral & Maxillofacial Department. The maxillofacial surgery service for North Wales is now centralised on the Glan Clwyd Hospital site where all emergency and inpatient elective surgery is carried out. Daycase surgery and outpatient clinics are performed at Wrexham Maelor Hospital, Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor and Llandudno General Hospital.

Main duties of the job

The major workload of the department is head and neck cancer with microvascular reconstruction, the management of skin cancer and both benign and malignant salivary gland disease. All other areas of maxillofacial surgery are also provided including orthognathic surgery, dentoalveolar surgery, implantology and temporomandibular joint replacement. In addition there is a comprehensive maxillofacial trauma service.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

  • Applicants must have evidence of successful completion of a UK Dental Core Training Year 1 (i.e. outcome 1) or equivalent at time of post commencement
  • Applicants must have at least 24 months postgraduate clinical experience
  • Applicants must be eligible for Dental Performer List in England or Dental list in Scotland, Wales and N. Ireland for posts based wholly or partly in Primary Care
  • Applicants must provide evidence of ability to arrange transport to meet the requirements of the post
