Job Summary

As a Digital & Data Network Specialist at Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust (TEWV) you will play a pivotal role in delivering and managing a modern, resilient and secure digital network across 100 Trust sites and partner networks. In addition you will be responsible for delivering and managing the Trusts network infrastructure in conjunction with the network manager.

The Trust utilise modern Cisco technologies which have recently undergone major investment and a complete overhaul of all Switching, routing and wireless infrastructure utilising Cisco DNAC at the heart of the network.

Main duties of the job

A key member of the senior team for technology services, reporting to the Network Manager.

To provide specialist IT Network engineering services for TEWV NHS Foundation Trust in relation to it Digital networks and communications infrastructure ensuring that the service provided from conception to end of life complies with best practise technical, records and cyber security standards, with robust contractual agreements in place to manage strong working relationships with third party suppliers and partners.

The role is part of the Network on-call rota.

Provide expert guidance and opinion to Network Engineers/specialists, Network Manager, and stakeholders. Investigate a range of complex Wireless networking issues over a range of technology and IT subject matter. Areas including LAN/WAN connectivity, Wireless infrastructure, Firewalls, Routing, Switching, Network resilience and capacity planning. Including Digital infrastructure strategy, and emerging network technologies. Follow the relevant policies, standards, and practices. Robustly documents the Trusts existing network infrastructure and develops documentation in support of future technology in relation to the Trusts digital strategy and ambitions.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) in wireless technologies

Knowledge

Essential

  • Highly developed specialist knowledge, underpinned by theory and experience
  • Demonstrable knowledge in application transport and network infrastructure protocols, and experience of how to support these applications/protocols when accessed through VPN and firewall appliances.
  • Expert working knowledge of router, switch, firewall and wireless technologies in an enterprise network.
  • Good understanding of network security fundamentals.
  • A good understanding of virtual servers and virtual desktop infrastructure in a mixed Cisco and Microsoft Active Directory operating environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of general IT system security principles and practice
