Are you a qualified or about-to-qualify Occupational Therapist looking for a supportive place to begin or grow your career? Or a Band 5 OT ready for a new challenge?

This is an excellent opportunity for an OT with an interest in older adult rehabilitation to join a high-quality ward therapy team, supporting patients to regain independence and return home safely.

Based mainly at St Mark’s Hospital, Maidenhead, with some cross-cover at Upton Hospital, Slough, you’ll join a close-knit inpatient team of OTs, physios and therapy assistants. You’ll manage a varied caseload of adults with complex needs and gain valuable experience in a dynamic MDT where learning and development are actively supported.

Day to day, you’ll be:

  • Assessing patients and creating personalised rehab plans
  • Supporting or running groups such as falls prevention and exercise
  • Working closely with patients, families and the wider MDT
  • Supporting therapy assistants and supervising students
  • Joining ward rounds, case conferences and discharge planning

Person Specification

Education/Qualifications/Training

Essential

  • Occupational Therapy Degree
  • Registration with Health Professions Council

Desirable

  • Membership of a professional body e.g. RCOT

Continuous Professional Development

Essential

  • Willingness to undertake further training and development

Desirable

  • Evidence of on-going professional development
  • Evidence of completing a preceptorship program
  • Training in the equipment needs of older people.

Previous Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team and multi-agency environment

Desirable

  • Post registration experience
  • Experience of working in a care home
  • Specialist knowledge acquired through training or working with older people with complex health needs
  • Experience of working with patients with a postural deviation

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Essential

  • Demonstrate good organisational and prioritisation skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with an empathetic manner
  • Competent with IT skills
  • Ability to translate best practice evidence and national policy into practice
  • Knowledge of current Health / Social Care legislation, i.e. National Serviced Frameworks
  • Knowledge and understanding of adult protection issues

Desirable

  • Knowledge of resource management

  • Ability to travel to multiple sites efficiently
  • Full UK driving licence
  • The daily use of a car
