The successful candidates will:

  • Support in the creation and lead on the interpretation of analytics.
  • Have good analytical, technical and communication skills in order to aid the production of accurate & robust statistics & intelligence.
  • Understand their stakeholder’s strategic direction, as well as current issues, in order to know how to prioritise & manage their workload to ensure the most effective outputs are delivered at the right time.

The successful candidate(s) will also have to possess excellent numeracy, logical and communication skills, be educated to Degree level or have equivalent experience & knowledge in the Analytics/Business Intelligence sphere.

This is a development role where the successful candidate(s) will commence on the job training as a band 6 before progressing to band 7 on successful completion of the programme.

 

Main duties of the job

  • To work alongside the Analytics & Data Science team in the provision of an Analytics and Business Intelligence service to the Trust, its Divisions, Corporate Functions and Commissioners.
  • The post holder will support in the creation or interpretation of analytics.
  • The role will also support the design and rollout of interactive dashboards and will aid the DAA Development team during their production.
  • The post holder will require good analytical, technical and communication skills in order to aid the production of accurate & robust statistics & intelligence.
  • The post holder will understand their stakeholder’s strategic direction, as well as current issues, in order to know how to prioritise & manage their workload to ensure the most effective outputs are delivered at the right time.
  • The post holder should have a good awareness of the Trusts external environment to identify & respond to variations from the local or national trends.
  • This is a hybrid working role where the successful candidate(s) will be required to commute into the Wigan office at a minimum of one day per week and will be flexible to the needs of the department and trust.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to degree / HND level. Alternatively work knowledge & experience of equivalent level.
  • Mathematics qualification – minimum GSCE pass
  • Evidence of professional and /or personal development

Desirable

  • Educated to Degree / HND level in mathematics, statistics, or similar subject
  • UK Chip level 1 or above

Experience

Essential

  • Experience analysing data
  • Experience of working within a Business Intelligence Department
  • Experience of developing efficient information outputs
  • Data interpretation
  • Capturing end user requirements.
  • Experience of validating large or complex intelligence.
  • Experience of identifying, managing, or communicating data quality issues.

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a busy NHS Business Intelligence team. Alternatively, experience of working with data in a public sector healthcare setting.
  • Use of statistics / forecasting
  • Experience of web-based Business Intelligence reporting software such as Qlik
  • Experience of supporting clinicians and management in the provision and interpretation of information

  • An understanding of the NHS national datasets and statutory returns currently in use, and central reporting requirements of an NHS trust.
