Job Summary
We are looking for a Behavioural Support Worker to support the provision of a range of assessments and interventions informed by a Positive Behavioural Support approach.
When indicated to undertake functional assessment of behaviours that challenge for clients eligible to the service under the supervision of the services behavioural support practitioner and/or clinical psychologists.
To work alongside clients, families, paid carers and other professionals to support understanding and responses to behaviours that are challenging in line with PBS principles, Positive & Proactive Care: reducing the need for restrictive interventions (2014) and NICE Guidance (including NG11 & NG93).
Interventions will include working across a variety of settings, including family homes, residential/supported living and day services and will involve working as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team.
To assist in delivering relevant interventions to increase the knowledge and skills of the appropriate stakeholders.
To work closely with the multi-disciplinary team and wider stakeholders to deliver on the Transforming Care Agenda and local delivery plan for clients supported by the service.

Person Specification
Education and qualification
Essential
- Understanding of current NHS/Social care policies/ best practice relating to people with a learning disability.
- Additional training in Positive Behaviour Support preferably by a recognised body e.g. BILD (or equivalent level of demonstrable knowledge).
Experience
Essential
- Experience of working directly with adults with learning disabilities who display behaviours that challenge.
- Experience of undertaking assessment and intervention with families and paid carers who are supporting an adult with behaviours that challenge.
- Experience of work in a multi-cultural setting, including working with interpreters
Knowledge and skills
Essential
- Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing and to record clinical information
- Able to work with staff & families in implementing interventions
- Able to assist in developing and delivering training packages
- Able to work within a multidisciplinary team & partner agencies
- Able to plan, organise and prioritise own clinical workload
- Knowledge of national policies relevant to LD and ability to formulate plans & contribute to local adaptation & implementation of such policies
- Able to support in analysing highly complex outcome data from a number of sources and provide clear advice to colleagues supporting the understanding and application of such analyses
- Competent use of IT packages e.g. Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft office including Word, Powerpoint and Excel
- Able to be flexible and adapt approach according to need
