RESPONSIBLE FOR: Day-to-day operational management of care services, supervision of staff, and ensuring the well-being and support of service users.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
To support the Registered Manager in delivering high-quality domiciliary and complex care services in England in line with:

  • Care Quality Commission (CQC) regulations and guidance
  • Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014 (including the CQC Fundamental Standards)
  • Care Act 2014 (including safeguarding duties)
  • Mental Capacity Act 2005 (including best interest decision-making and relevant restrictions / DoLS where applicable)
  • Data Protection Act 2018 and UK GDPR

The Deputy Manager will assist with operational leadership, supervision and development of staff, quality monitoring, risk management, governance, and compliance. This includes overseeing specialist and complex care delivery to ensure people receive safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led support which promotes dignity, independence, choice and control.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE

  • Support the Registered Manager with tender and bid submissions for new services or contracts.
  • Proven experience in a supervisory or management role in regulated adult social care, preferably domiciliary care, complex care, or supported living.
  • Strong working knowledge of CQC regulations, inspection methodology, and the Fundamental Standards.
  • Experience of compliance auditing and quality assurance.
  • Experience in (or willingness to train in) the operational oversight of specialist/complex care.
  • Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills.
  • Care Act 2014 (including safeguarding)

  • Any other relevant health and social care legislation and guidance in England

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the Registered Manager in leadership and day-to-day running of Yeshua Healthcare’s domiciliary and complex care services in England.
  • Ensure service delivery aligns with the CQC Key Lines of Enquiry (KLOEs) and overall rating themes: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led.
  • Supervise, mentor and support care staff, ensuring training, competency and compliance with internal policies and national guidance.
  • Support recruitment, induction and performance management of care staff in line with employment legislation and organisational standards.
  • Oversee the development, implementation and review of person-centred care plans, ensuring these reflect individuals’ assessed needs, preferences and outcomes.
  • Monitor and oversee delivery of complex care tasks to ensure they are delivered safely, within scope of training, and supported by current competency assessment.
  • Ensure robust governance systems are followed including: incident reporting, escalation, learning reviews, corrective actions and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular quality assurance checks and audits (e.g., medication, care records, MAR charts, infection prevention, risk assessments) and report findings to the Registered Manager.
  • Liaise with individuals, families, NHS teams, community professionals and commissioners to ensure coordinated care delivery and responsive service planning.
  • Manage rotas, cover, staffing allocation and continuity of care, ensuring safe staffing levels and effective deployment of the workforce.
  • Respond to and escalate safeguarding concerns in line with Care Act 2014 safeguarding duties and local authority safeguarding procedures.
  • Ensure accurate, timely record keeping and secure data handling in line with Data Protection Act 2018 and UK GDPR.
  • Ensure MCA compliance: where an individual may lack capacity, support staff to use best interest decision-making, appropriate documentation, and lawful restrictions where applicable.
  • Maintain awareness of regulatory updates, CQC guidance and best practice in domiciliary and complex care.
