Job Summary

We are pleased to offer an opportunity for an organized and highly motivated individual with the ability to think on their feet as a Dispensary Pharmacy Technician. They will require great communication & interpersonal skills, as they will be working with staff of all types and grades across the hospital and within our dispensary.

We are looking for an individual with a passion for customer service and team work that is able to work under pressure whilst ensuring accuracy in all aspects of technical medicines management.

You can expect to be involved in all aspects of medicines management, including dispensing medications, screening drug charts, medicines reconciliation and patient counselling.

We will also welcome applications from Trainee Pharmacy Technicians completing their qualification within the next 3 months. Entry level will be at a Band 4 (unless already Band 5) – previous experience, qualification and accreditations will be considered. Candidates will be regraded to Band 5 once in-house progression programme is completed.

 

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a highly motivated registered Pharmacy Technician with excellent organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure whilst ensuring accuracy in all aspects of technical pharmacy. Successful applicants will form an integral part of a dynamic team, pushing the boundaries of effective and efficient patient care. Candidates should have strong communication skills, with a willingness to learn and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of patient care.

For this role you will need to be a Pharmacy Technician registered with the GPhC or working towards being registered in the next 6 months.

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Able to offer advice on the safe storage and administration of drugs
  • Sound understanding of the Pharmacy technical processes
  • Sound understanding of the Pharmacy clinical skills needed in todays NHS
  • Demonstrate their ability to communicate sensitive information to others including patients
  • Able to offer advice on the safe storage and administration of drugs

Education, Training & Qualifications

Essential

  • BTEC in Pharmaceutical science and NVQ 3
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council

Skills

Essential

  • Effective verbal skills
  • Effective written skills
