Supporting Young People and Families During Their Wait for Care
We are recruiting 2 Assistant Practitioners for our Children’s ADHD and Autism team (AAT) to provide waiting well support.
Are you passionate about supporting children, young people and families, particularly during the often difficult period before treatment begins?
You’ll play a crucial part in managing the AAT waiting list and engaging with families. This role is ideal for someone who values psychological safety, has a proactive mindset, and understands the impact of timely, compassionate communication.
We are looking for these qualities:
- Experience in a health, care or youth service setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Awareness of safeguarding, trauma-informed practice and community support systems
- Confidence in managing sensitive conversations and acting as a liaison between families and services
- Commitment to equity, engagement and improving service accessibility
Main duties of the job
Wait List Coordination:
Support the coordination of waiting lists, act as a first point of contact for families and clinical teams.
Check-ins and Support While Waiting:
To help support the importance of proactive engagement with families on waiting lists. This can include regular check-ins, signposting to resources or third sector organisations, and providing psychoeducation or self-help materials to prevent deterioration while waiting.
Signposting and Navigation:
After consultation with the family and support from local clinical team to give support with regards signposting families to appropriate interim support-such as online resources, workshops, or community-based interventions-while they await assessment or treatment.
Data and Performance Monitoring:
To support robust data collection and performance monitoring, enabling better allocation of resources and identification of bottlenecks in the system
