Job Summary

We are looking for motivated, dynamic and enthusiastic Physiotherapists to join our well-established musculoskeletal Team at Forest of Dean Community Hospital.

You will be required to work in the outpatient’s department managing a comprehensive range of MSK including hand conditions. We receive self- referrals, GP, Consultant in addition to referrals from our Advanced Practitioner Service and Other Health Care Professionals.

We will be creating some opportunities to expand hand specialisms where directed by service need.

Once you have received the appropriate training you will be encouraged to act as a clinical educator and assist in the supervision of undergraduate physiotherapy students.

In Service Training is encouraged and supported. You will play an active part in the local and Countywide MSK in-service training programmes and be expected to commit to your own personal development.

Close links exist with the band 7 staff working in the Musculoskeletal Advanced Practitioner Service (MSKAPS.)

 

Main duties of the job

  • To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner to work independently with access to guidance from highly specialised Physiotherapists within Gloucestershire Health and Care Services
  • To be professionally and legally accountable for a designated patient caseload and to decide priorities for own work area balancing other patient related and professional demands
  • To manage clinical risk within own patient caseload
  • To undertake the comprehensive assessment and accurate diagnosis of patients, including those with a complex presentation, using investigative, analytical and enhanced clinical reasoning skills
  • To formulate individualised clinical management programmes, utilising a wide range of treatment skills and options to plan a specialised programme of care

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy
  • Member of CSP
  • Registration with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC)

Experience

Essential

  • To have a good working knowledge of relevant national standards to which quality of practice should be monitored

SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE

Essential

  • Good communication skills both verbal and non-verbal and written
  • To be able to evidence clinical reasoning in the management of non-complex patient presentation
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

PERSONAL SKILLS ABILITIES AND ATTRIBUTES

Essential

  • Good communication skills both verbal and non-verbal and written

Desirable

  • Can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options
