Job Summary

The Reporting Development Manager will work as a key member of the BIU management team to efficiently manage and develop the Corporate and Performance Information reporting functions, in line with the strategic objectives of King’s College Hospital.

The role significantly contributes to the strategic direction of information management within the Trust with the core purpose to establish and continually enhance the suite of web-based, automated, and user-driven reports to support the developing needs of the Trust’s corporate and clinical stakeholders.

 

Main duties of the job

The Reporting Development Manager will work as a key member of the BIU management team to efficiently manage and develop the Corporate and Performance Information reporting functions, in line with the strategic objectives of King’s College Hospital.

The role significantly contributes to the strategic direction of information management within the Trust with the core purpose to establish and continually enhance the suite of web-based, automated, and user-driven reports to support the developing needs of the Trust’s corporate and clinical stakeholders. The post holder will lead the visual interpretation of data and enhance the user experience of BI alongside the Operational Reporting Manager and Head of Business Intelligence.

They will also be required to develop close links with the Performance Systems team to appropriately triage and manage requests dependent upon new data sources. The post-holder will provide documentation, training, and support to ensure that the Information teams are able to be experts in all aspects of the Trust’s and NHS information infrastructure.

The post holder will report directly to, and be required to deputise for, the Head of Business Intelligence as necessary.

Person Specification

Education & Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree level or equivalent in a Science/Maths field
  • Postgraduate degree level qualification or equivalent

Desirable

  • Project management qualification, e.g. Prince 2 practitioner or equivalent
  • Specialist training in data science (i.e. Python or R.)
  • Experience researching best practices, interpreting relevance, and identifying practices that could be implemented to achieve improvements

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Highly specialist knowledge of information analysis and reporting, acquired in an information management role within the NHS or similar healthcare environment
  • Proven track record of operational and performance management experience
  • Proven track record in the management of change
  • Proven ability to translate operational knowledge into detailed reports that simplify performance management
  • Strong leadership skills and experience of managing staff and teams across multiple sites
  • Knowledge and experience in the development and implementation of business intelligence solutions across a large organisation

Desirable

  • Experience researching best practices, interpreting relevance, and identifying practices that could be implemented to achieve improvements
  • Experience with database administration and performance tuning at an enterprise level
  • Experience with EPIC EHR system and particularly Clarity / Caboodle

Skills & Competencies

Essential

  • Expert user of a Microsoft BI / Visualisation application
  • High-level verbal and written communication skills
  • High-level numerical skills and data analysis; ability to interpret highly complex data and translate it into meaningful, useful data
  • Expert database skills, i.e. Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle.
  • Political acumen
  • Proven leadership skills within a multidisciplinary environment
  • Proven ability to problem-solve and achieve change while balancing competing demands
  • A proven capacity to balance competing demands to achieve local and Trust objectives
