Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and talented business analyst to join our Pharmacy Services team. In this role, you will play a key part in promoting the safe, effective, and efficient use of medicines by interpreting pharmacy and prescribing data, generating high-quality insights, and supporting evidence-based decision making.
As part of the Digital team, you will be dedicated to Pharmacy Services and work closely with senior leaders and clinical colleagues to help enhance patient outcomes and improve service performance across our organisation.

Main duties of the job
To support the Pharmacy Services Team in the development of robust systems and processes which includes data management and development of the data portfolio, to ensure data is used to inform service development and decision making, particularly:
- Enabling the better understanding of medicines use and service data to address ongoing challenges.
- Supporting all data requests, ensuring data is contextualised, accessible and presented appropriately to enable easy interpretation by users.
- Compilation of data reports, dashboards, and detailed analysis.
- Timely data input across service areas, escalating problem areas as appropriate.
- Standardisation of data collection to allow comparison e.g. within and between Health Boards, services, localities, contractors, staff etc.
- Liaise with colleagues regularly to ensure data is received, understood and where appropriate complied with.
- Quality checking activity and performance data.
- Delivery of training to improve data management and understanding.

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential
- Degree or equivalent level of qualification
- Evidence of CPD / short courses to postgraduate diploma level
- Demonstrable knowledge of quality improvement methodologies
- Willing to undergo departmental training and improve knowledge and skills through further training
Desirable
- Mentoring / Coaching qualification
- Knowledge of Pharmacy Services
Experience
Essential
- Significant experience in reporting and analysing complex data within information systems using data analysis tools
- Excellent analytical skills with experience of handling large and complex datasets
- Highly skilled at problem identification and solving
- Highly skilled in the interpretation and presentation of statistical data. Ability to use information to present a cogent argument
- Experience of working with PowerBI / Excel
- Experience of innovation, managing and sustaining change
- Experience of service and organisation change and knowledge of how to navigate a service through a successful change programme
Desirable
- Evidence of working with a range of teams to improve performance / service delivery
- Experience of using advanced features of databases including importing varied data formats, extracting and manipulating data using queries, and exporting data to other programs
