Job Summary
We are looking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic Occupational Therapy Technician to join the Occupational Therapy Team at the Grange University Hospital in Llanfrechfa
Experience of working with people with a variety of health conditions is essential ,as is the ability to work flexibly and proactively to deliver a fast paced and clinically effective service. The post holder will hold their own caseload as well as supporting the occupational therapists to deliver an OT service in GUH. This is a hospital based post, but Occupational Therapy can be delivered both in the hospital and in the community.
Main duties of the job
The post offers opportunity to deliver a variety of assessments and interventions with patients in the hospital and on occasions in their own homes and communities. The post offers opportunities to manage a caseload, develop knowledge, skills and experience in supporting patients to be discharged from hospital.
We need an effective communicator who can work flexibly and proactively to deliver a prompt and clinically effective service. You should be a creative problem solver, and demonstrate a willingness to develop and pilot new ideas. You will possess excellent organisational skills related to yourself and supporting the workload management of the team.
We provide all of our staff with the opportunity to work in an occupational therapy service that is developing to meet the needs of the people that we serve and provide innovative and effective ways of delivering occupational therapy intervention. We support all staff with professional supervision and regular development reviews.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications & Knowledge
Essential
- Educated to GCSE level including Maths & English or equivalent
- Evidence of a Level 3 qualification (relevant to OT) or equivalent accredited learning.
- Communication skills in written and verbal format to level 3 standard
- Knowledge and application of Microsoft word and Outlook
Desirable
- Successful completion of the Diploma OT support
Experience
Essential
- Experience of working as an OT support worker or a support worker role in another field associated with OT
- Experience of working with people with a variety of support needs to include specific patient group to which this role relates
- Experience of managing own time and prioritising activities.
- Experience of self-development demonstrated by CPD portfolio
- Experience of working in teams
