Job Summary

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Preceptee Community Mental Health Practitioner (Nurse) (1 x 37.5 hours per week) within the Honiton Community Mental Health Team based at Haydons Court, Marlpits Lane, Honiton. This is a dynamic multi-disciplinary team, who are currently working closely with the GP Primary Care Networks in East Devon, building greater networks & communications within the local community, in line with the new Community Mental Health Framework.

There is easy access to the team site with free onsite parking.

You’ll be joining Devon Partnership Trust, which encompasses urban, rural and coastal demographics that combine to make this a fascinating and beautiful area to work.

This post is only open to applications from persons who are qualified or about to qualify as a Mental Health Nurse.

The successful candidate will be joining a dynamic, motivated and skilled service and help the team in Honiton build upon the successful work they have and continue to achieve. You will also be part of the exciting work we are undertaking as we implement Care Pathways associated with psychologically informed interventions for all clients referred to the community team in Honiton. You will be part of the development and delivery of psychological group interventions and also the ongoing development of the physical health screaning and monitonring giving an holistic service for our client group.

 

Main duties of the job

We are looking for someone with enthusiasm and energy who wants to make a difference to peoples lives; is creative and innovative and highly motivated. You must have assessment and care planning skills and experience in mental health and multi-disciplinary working is desirable.

You will need to have excellent communication skills, be able to exercise clinical judgement in respect of assessing and managing risk. In addition, you need to be committed to the values and principles of recovery, and able to help deliver a safe, timely, caring and responsive service. Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Postgraduate experience in at least two inpatient settings or substantial experience working within a mental health and/or learning disabilities setting;

Desirable

  • Managing a caseload of clients with a range of mental health problems.
  • Demonstrates sound theoretical knowledge of mental health practice;
  • Working within a community setting in either the statutory or voluntary sector.
  • Providing clinical supervision.
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency environment.
  • Demonstrates experience of, and relevant professional practice qualification in mentoring/assessing students and learners

Qualifications

Essential

  • An appropriate up to date professional mental health qualification eg RMN, on the appropriate professional body register and hold current NMC registration with no restrictions (please highlight if your registration is pending).
  • Evidence of relevant continuing professional development

Desirable

  • Training to level 2 in Safeguarding children and young people: roles and competencies for Health Care staff
  • Post registration training in relevant field
  • Mentorship training

Essential

  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to engage with clients experiencing a wide range of mental health problems.
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of professionals from various settings.
  • Able to own problems and get involved in the solutions.
  • Ability to assess risk.
  • Able to prioritise work to reflect changing needs.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage own time and to work flexibly to deadlines
