We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 Pharmacy Technician to work in our Inpatient dispensary here at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital.
Main duties of the job
Dispensing arrange of prescriptions which include Clinical Trials, whilst ensuring adherence to Controlled Drugs policies within the dispensary maintain high standards of training for our trainees in the department. You will be trained to use new e-prescribing systems (EPMA and iQemo) within the dispensary. Being part of a friendly, highly motivated and trained efficient team that continues to strive for excellence.

Experience
Essential
- Post registration experience of working as a pharmacy technician or significant experience of working in an acute NHS hospital setting
- Experience of supervising and training less experienced pharmacy technicians, students, other staff; carrying out basic work- based assessments
- Experience of providing ward-based medicines management services
- Use of Datix incident reporting system or equivalent
- Updating, reviewing and implementing SOPs for Pharmacy and other areas
- Participation in or contribution to audit work
Desirable
- Experience of implementation of quality improvement projects
Knowledge
Essential
- Up to date knowledge of legislation relevant to pharmacy practice, e.g. controlled drugs, Health and Safety at Work, clinical trial regulations
- Understanding of stock control systems Knowledge of drugs, side effects and where to find further information
- Knowledge of Safe and Secure Handling of Medicines requirements
- Understanding of the importance of adherence to SOPs and legislation Supporting others to gain an understanding of GPhC Revalidation requirements
- Understanding of development opportunities available to Pharmacy technicians and support staff
- Knowledge of medicines management systems at ward level
- Good understanding of the management of High- Cost Drugs
- Able to demonstrate a good understanding of patient safety initiatives

Qualifications
Essential
- BTEC level 3 Diploma in Principles and practice for pharmacy technicians or equivalent
- Medicines Optimisation qualification or equivalent
- Accuracy Checking
- Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) qualification
- Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
- ILM 2 Team Leader or equivalent
Desirable
- Practice Supervisor, Train the trainer or equivalent qualification
- ILM Level 3 Leadership and Management qualification or equivalent
