An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit 1.0 whole time equivalent Band 4 Speech and Language Therapy Assistant to our well established Speech and Language Therapy team which provides a service across Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire. This post is for anyone interested in working with preschool and school aged children with a range of communication needs within the East Riding of Yorkshire.

Main duties of the job

  • To support the SLT in delivery of high level, quality care and evidence based interventions in line with local and national guidance in the identified clinical area.
  • To support SLT intervention in both autonomous and multidisciplinary working.
  • To plan, provide and evaluate interventions within a framework laid down by the SLT in group and individual settings.
  • To participate in the delivery of service specific training as required
  • To supervise/support identified support workers
  • To undertake administrative duties as required.
  • To manage a caseload, including self directed planning and time management.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Relevant NVQ level 4 or BTEC/Foundation Degree in Speech and Language Therapy or demonstrable working experience in the field of care
  • Working knowledge of relevant policy, legislation drivers and their application to children’ services

Desirable

  • Qualification in English (GCSE or higher)
  • Willingness to undertake further academic development

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working children with communication impairments
  • Experience of working with groups of children or people
  • Experience of working with families

Desirable

  • Experience of liaising and working with multidisciplinary teams or care teams
  • Previous experience working with children with physical and/or complex needs

Personal Attributes

Essential

  • Will have strong communication, interpersonal, organisational and clinical skills

Desirable

  • Ability to work flexibly to respond to specific service need.

Essential

  • Ability to commute within the Trust geographical area with access to an appropriate means of transport
