We are looking for an experienced Respiratory Physiotherapist to join our friendly Respiratory Physiotherapy Team at the Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust. Managerially, the focus of this post will be respiratory in-patients. The post will also involve regularly working clinically on critical care, working alongside the Clinical Lead Physiotherapists on critical care.
We have a busy Respiratory service with two acute respiratory wards, which include a Respiratory Support Unit (higher-care bay) and an acute NIV service.
This post will help to develop the Respiratory service at RCHT and improve the transition between inpatient and outpatient care. You will be involved in developing the Non-Invasive Ventilation service and the provision of on-call Physiotherapy with the hospital. The role will also include respiratory education both within the respiratory team and across the physiotherapy department for on call physiotherapists
Main duties of the job
To provide a high standard Physiotherapy service.
To maintain an agreed caseload within the clinical specialism, performing advanced assessment of patients including those with highly complex presentations. To formulate diagnoses and treatment plans as an autonomous practitioner.
To work alongside the Therapy Lead – Respiratory, Surgery, Paediatrics and Critical Care and the Professional Lead Physiotherapist to plan, co-ordinate, deliver and evaluate the service.
To be instrumental in the ongoing development of services and practices that provide high quality care and interventions.
To carry out any special duties associated with the post, e.g. overseeing recruitment to the Band 5/6 rotation, representing therapy services at various forums.
