An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Physiotherapy Degree Apprenticeship opportunity within the REACT team at Leighton Hospital. We have been successful in securing a place on the next cohort at the university of Salford which is due to start in September 2026.

Consideration will be given to prgression for band 3 progression to band 4.

 

Main duties of the job

This role will support the development of a therapy assistant to becoming a qualified Physiotherapist through the apprenticeship route. Day to Day you will contribute to assessments, provide therapy interventions, patient advice and support under the guidance of a qualified therapist. Additionally, you will contribute to operational delivery and service planning and development, as well as contribute to multidisciplinary team management across A&E and the assessment and short stay wards to prevent or facilitate early discharge as part of a seven day service.

The Physiotherapy degree apprenticeship involves the development of apprentices through ‘on the job’ training in the workplace, ‘off the job’ training in a university setting, and clinical placements.

Essential

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) essential, English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above)
  • Demonstrable interest in Physiotherapy as a career
  • Ability to show excellent communication skills with either patients, carers, and colleagues
  • Demonstrates examples of good organisational and time-management skills
  • Demonstrates the ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Demonstrates willingness to learn and develop through both academic study and clinical practice
  • 128 UCAS points which can be made up from A-Levels, BTEC national diploma, Access to higher education course, or, a previous degree (in the past 5 years)

Desirable

  • Basic understanding of the importance of confidentiality, consent, and patient dignity
