Job Summary

Responsible for implementation of effective quality neonatal care to infants requiring Special Care, under the supervision of the registered nurse, following a holistic family centred model of practice.

 

Main duties of the job

  • Undertakes direct patient care to infants requiring Special Care within the scope of N.N.E.B diploma qualification or equivalent, under the supervision of a trained nurse
  • Competent in the use of specific medical devices required for the provision of special care
  • Contributes to resource management of the NICU/TCW

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Proven evidence of personal or professional development
  • Demonstrable experience of working with parents & families
  • Demonstrable experience in the use of computers
  • Recent demonstrable experience working with infants within a Special Care Baby Unit

Desirable

  • Interest & academic proven ability to undertake further training within the speciality of neonatal nursing

Qualifications

Essential

  • NVQ 3 or equivalent qualification in relevant subject or demonstrable experience

Desirable

  • NNEB Diploma/NVQ 4 or equivalent qualification
  • NNEB Advanced Practice Computer Literate (ECDL)

  • Can demonstrate competence in numeracy and literacy
  • Understands the importance of reporting things outside their sphere of responsibility
