Tiny Tugs Medway NHS Foundation Trust Day Nursery cares for children aged 6 months to 5 years in a purpose-built day nursery setting located conveniently on the hospital site for Trust employees. An exciting opportunity to offer a highly motivated individual with previous experience at senior nursery practitioner level who is looking to further their leadership skills and knowledge and join our well-established team of dedicated early years professionals, who take an holistic approach to learning and place every child at the centre of what they do to achieve the best outcomes.

Main duties of the job

To deputise the nursery in the absence of the nursery manager and or deputy ensuring that adult to child ratios are maintained at or above Ofsted guidelines and that there are sufficient qualified staff on duty at all times to provide care for children in the day nursery.

The post holder will participate in effective day to day service delivery, which includes staffing rotation, planning staff breaks and ensuring adequate resources such as laundry, milk, and catering supplies.

To keep up to date with current developments, initiatives and practices in teaching and learning for children in the early years.

To work alongside the manager and deputy in implementing policies and procedures and the standards that schools and childcare providers must meet for the learning, development and care of children from birth to 5 years as set out in the Early years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Early Years
  • Grade C or above in English and Maths

Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience in an early years setting working with children six months to five years old
  • Experience of working at a room leader/senior nursery practitioner level

  • Excellent communication skills with parents, staff , children, outside agencies and all stakeholders

Knowledge

Essential

  • An excellent working knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Sta2ge Framework – September 2023 and Ofsted Inspection Framework 2023.
