Job Summary

Derbyshire Community Health Service has a full time position available to a suitable candidate who have the following essential criteria.

  • HCPC Registration;
  • Membership of Royal College of Podiatry & 1st degree in Podiatry or equivalent;
  • Masters Degree in the Theory of Podiatric Surgery
  • Evidence of previous research or audit activity

The purpose of the of the training will be to enable the trainee to become a reflective and competent clinician who may successfully complete the Part 1 & 2 examinations of the Faculty of Surgery of the Royal College of Podiatry.

The post holder will be a clinical specialist who examines, diagnoses and treats disorders, diseases, deformities and injuries of the foot and associated structures.

They will consult with patients to determine an appropriate course of treatment, conservative or surgical.

They will request clinical tests to determine the extent of disease or help diagnose condition.

They will need to be an Independent Prescriber due to the complexity of many of the patients

The post holder will be registered to practice with the Health Care Professions Council and have minimum of 2 years post qualification podiatric experience.

To attend and assist the more senior team members at operating sessions.

There will be opportunities to acquire podiatric surgical and related skills in a progressive manner under direct and close supervision.

A high degree of creativity and latitude is expected of the post holder.

 

Main duties of the job

To work to the highest clinical standards under the supervision of the Consultant Podiatric Surgeon.

To undertake surgical and clinical training and master a comprehensive range of podiatric surgery and clinical techniques. To be undertaken under close supervision and subject to verbal and written feedback.

To submit for Part 1 Fellowship exam in year 1 of the post.

To submit for Part 2 Fellowship exam in year 3 of the post.

To assist in the preparation of theatre prior to surgery, between operations and following the sessions.

To ensure clinical equipment preparation is complete for both surgical and outpatient sessions.

To undertake research or audit leading to at least one publication in a peer reviewed journal

To perform pre-surgical assessments of patients.

Qualifications

Essential

  • 1st Degree in Podiatry or equivalent
  • Masters Degree in the Theory of Podiatric Surgery
  • Completion of the Passport to Surgical Training Experience
  • HCPC Registration
  • Member of Royal College of Podiatry

Driving Licence

Essential

  • Full UK Driving Licence and use of car
