Applicants are invited to apply for the role of Rota Coordinator within the Operating Theatres at The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, part of University College London Hospitals Foundation Trust.We are seeking a bright and enthusiastic NHS experienced individual, who enjoys working in a busy environment with a friendly, multi-disciplinary team. Those applying will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Flexibility and the ability to prioritise tasks is essential – finding it easy to organise, prioritise and meet deadlines within their own workload and that of their team, and therefore a pro-active approach is necessary.

Main duties of the job

This is a full-time post based at NHNN to support the medical and administration staffing provision within Neuroanaesthesia, Neurocritical care and Operating Theatres departments. In particular, the post-holder will focus on managing and supporting Theatre administrators, Junior Doctor rota management.

Applicants should be aware that this is an onsite post and is based within the Operating Theatre Suite.

Applicants will see service users arriving for and leaving surgery.

Knowledge and Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience of administrative procedures within Healthcare.
  • Up to date knowledge of employment law and NHS jobs functionality.

Desirable

  • Understanding of recent developments within the NHS and how these affect medical staffing.

Experience

Essential

  • NHS experience Experience of managing a busy administrative workload, with conflicting priorities.
  • Experience of using initiative to solve problems.
  • Experience in working in clinical department and processing online rota systems, including changes and upgrades. In addition, building, monitoring and administering all doctor rotas.
  • Relevant experience involving the improvement of admin processes.
  • Experience in communicating issues effectively and clearly e.g. to senior members of staff

Desirable

  • Project management experience
  • Writing reports
  • Designing or delivering induction programmes

Skills and Abilities

Essential

  • Analytical problem solving approach to identify problems and develop and implement solutions.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including: Able to perform basic database manipulation Able to collate simple datasets and present in a logical format
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word & Minute taking.
  • Experience of working with a range of databases and software, including hospital systems.
  • Able to lead on service improvement initiatives in local environment.
  • Able to implement improvements from analysis of local audits

Desirable

  • Good knowledge of ESR.
