An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 role in Patient Emergency Response and Resuscitation Team (PERRT) at University College London Hospital.
This role is suitable for nurses with strong leadership skills and significant experience in critical care who wish to develop further in the four pillars of advanced practice.

This is not an easy role, and there are many challenges which will help you grow and develop personally and professionally.
Main duties of the job
The PERRT role provides opportunity to develop in all 4 pillars of the advanced practice framework, and we work closely with our academic partners. We are fortunate to have a senior lecturer in advanced practice in an honorary nurse consultant position with PERRT. Our clinical academic partnership is further strengthened with our senior nurses being honorary lecturers at City, University of London.
All our staff are supported to undertake advanced life support courses (adult and paediatric), and a level 7 advanced physical assessment module within the first 6-12 months of starting in role.
A typical shift includes assessment of patients already under PERRT review, responding to 2222 calls across the site, delivery of resuscitation training, reflective learning from events, supporting PERRT colleagues, assessing and managing risks, liaising with numerous MDT colleagues, and enjoying the challenges and learning that are inherent in the role.

*Note: you must have intensive care experience and have successfully completed an appropriate critical care course.
Person Specification
Knowledge and Qualifications
Essential
- Registered Nurse.
- Relevant post qualification clinical course (critical care)
- Significant critical care nursing experience following post qualification relevant course.
- Proven Leadership Training and/or relevant experience in a leadership role
- Recognised mentorship/ teaching course.
- A desire to gain instructor status in advanced resuscitation courses.
Desirable
- Resuscitation Council (UK) ILS provider course – adult and / or paediatric
- Resuscitation Council (UK), ALS, EPALS or ALSG APLS Provider course
- Have or currently studying for a First degree qualification or equivalent
- Evidence of involvement in research and / or quality improvement projects.
Experience
Essential
- Experience managing deteriorating patients effectively.
- Experience managing level 3 patients effectively
- Experience teaching and responding to learners individual needs.
Desirable
- Understanding of risk management/ governance issues
- Experience in managing cardiac arrests.
- Experience in leading clinical teams
- Experience in delivering multidisciplinary training programmes

Specific Requirements
Essential
- Flexible approach to work patterns
- Flexible approach to working on multiple sites.
- Physically able to attend cardiac arrest calls and assist as a member of the team, and able to attend cardiac arrest calls and assist as a member of the team
- Able to facilitate the safe moving of equipment for training such as manikins
- Good dexterity to carry out emergency procedures e.g. defibrillation, arterial blood gas puncture, cannulation
- Ability to work with electronic health record systems
