An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional Registrant to join a team of dedicated professionals in the busy expanding Glenfield Outpatients Department.
At the Glenfield Hospital outpatients we host and support a variety of specialties including Respiratory, Cardiology, Vascular, Oncology, Breast Care, Orthopaedics and NCSEM at Loughborough University.
Outpatients is a friendly, progressive and encouraging working environment, within very pleasant surroundings. The focus of all our effort is to continually enhance patient care delivery whilst supporting the multi-disciplinary specialties that use our services.

Main duties of the job
Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of evidenced-based nursing care to a group of patients.
Actively contribute to setting and maintaining high standards of quality nursing care.
Act as a clinical and professional role model, assessing and supporting students and learners on placement within the clinical area.
This role can involve frequent walking and standing for long periods of time. The post holder must have the physical capability to use manual handling equipment i.e. hoists, trolleys and wheelchairs.
You may be required to work in other designated locations of the Trust as well as your primary base. In particular, flexibility is required across four areas including Leicester Royal Infirmary, Glenfield Hospital, Loughborough NCSEM and Leicester General Hospital .If your initial location is one of these sites excess travel reimbursement would not apply for a permanent or temporary change of base.
NMC registration is essential.
Person Specification
Training & Qualifications
Essential
- RGN (or EN practising at the same level as RGN).
- Minimum of 6 months acute experience within a hospital setting.
- Evidence of continuing professional development or evidence of reflective profile.
- Willingness to undertake a Recognised NMC Teaching and Assessing Qualification or working towards.
- Satisfactory attendance records in previous post or throughout training period.
- Willingness to undertake new clinical practices, education and training that will enhance service delivery.
- Has the physical ability to perform the full range of nursing duties (with reasonable adjustments if required).
Desirable
- Has or working towards a Recognised NMC teaching and assessing qualification or the equivalent (or “expert witness” qualification).
