Consultant Psychiatrist in AMH, Treatment & Intervention

Job summary

The team are based at Parkside
Community Mental Health Centre, Middlesbrough. The Consultant will be expected
to provide committed, proactive and responsive clinical leadership working with
other staff to provide a treatment and intervention service for those
individuals suffering from chronic or severe mental health conditions in Parkside
and similarly into the EIP Team.

The Consultant is supported by and
a Specialty doctor and Foundation doctor and will be expected to provide
supervision to them. The Treatment & Intervention and EIP teams have Nurse prescribers,
and the post holder will be expected to provide supervision for them.

The Consultant will provide medical
input to the Treatment and Intervention team and EIP team, patients and review
clinics are located at Parkside. The Consultant will also undertake joint
reviews with other team members for complex, unstable and high-risk patients.
They will be fully involved in the personalised care planning process. They will be expected to provide
clinical support and supervision to the team in conjunction with the Team
Manager, Advanced Practitioners and Psychologists. They will attend Huddle,
Supercell and team meetings. The Treatment and
intervention team is able to obtain expert advice from Trust-wide specialist
services which include a Tertiary Treatment and intervention team Service, an
ADHD service, the Autism Spectrum Assessment Team, the Perinatal Team and the eating
disorder service.

Main duties of the job

The Consultant will provide committed, proactive
and responsible leadership working with the Community Treatment and Intervention
Team and EIP team

The Consultant will attend the Daily Huddle and
weekly Supercell meetings where decisions are made about patient care and the
management plan.

The Consultant will undertake assessments for
new patients and follow up and review patients by engaging with the Model Line
process, the Consultant will also provide a diagnosis and treatment plan

The Consultant will attend and fully contribute
to formulation meetings and acre plan
review meetings

The Consultant will act as Responsible Clinician
for patients on a Community Treatment
Order (CTO) and MOJ order

The Consultant will be responsible for Mental
Health Act Assessments in the community and very occasional Section 136
assessments.

The Consultant will be expected to provide
appropriate supervision to Junior Medical Staff and Non-Medical Prescribers in
the team

Frequency
of on call is 1:18; the on-call rota covers all the mental health units in
Teesside (AMH and Mental Health Services for Older People), CAS (Crisis
Assessment Suite – based at Roseberry Park Hospital) and the acute hospitals in
Teesside (North Tees and James Cook University Hospital). It also covers MHA
assessments in the community, assessments at the Police station and crisis
teams.

Qualifications

Essential

  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Eligible for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within 6 months of gaining CCT
  • Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
  • Approved under S12 OR able to achieve with 3 months of appointment

Desirable

  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
  • MRCPsych
