The Christie NHS Foundation Trust is an international leader in cancer research and development and is one of the largest cancer treatment centre of its kind in Europe.We are pleased to invite applications for a Clinical Research Matron role within our R&I Division. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to lead and inspire our Renal, OG, and Surgical research teams, overseeing a diverse and established portfolio of studies. Main duties of the job

As Clinical Research Matron, you will hold operational responsibility for the delivery and performance of your allocated disease teams, providing visible, effective leadership across the service. You will line manage Senior Clinical Research Nurses and Research Portfolio Support Managers, fostering a high performing, collaborative environment.You will be part of an experienced peer network of Clinical Research Matrons, with line management from a Lead Research Nurse. Professional accountability sits with the Associate Chief Nurse for the R&I Division, ensuring strong strategic oversight. A tailored induction and ongoing mentorship will support your success.This role suits a motivated, forward thinking senior research nurse with significant experience in line management and operational delivery. Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered nurse qualification
  • Degree in Healthcare related subject
  • Master’s Degree or working towards, or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of continuing personal and professional development
  • Leadership/Management course or working towards

Desirable

  • Advanced Communication
  • Oncology post-graduate qualification

Experience

Essential

  • Extensive Experience in clinical trials and research within the NHS Hospital setting
  • Substantial Oncology Experience
  • Significant experience undertaking, coordinating, and managing clinical research
  • Experience of successfully leading and implementing change
  • Proven ability to analyse complex problems and to develop and successfully implement practical and workable solutions to address them
  • Ability to think and plan strategically, operationally, and creatively and to prioritise work programs in the face of competing demands
  • Evidence of proactive involvement in the development of nurses and nursing practice
  • Leading teams to achieve high-quality patient care through evidence based clinical practice

Desirable

  • Experience of implementing research into clinical practice
  • Evidence of effective design and management of patient flows and pathways

  • Wide knowledge of developments in the NHS impacting on Trust including Comprehensive understanding of current NHS initiatives and targets
  • Confident with HR policies and procedures and demonstrable evidence of managing significant numbers of staff
  • Accreditation (CQC) and revalidation knowledge and experience
  • Evidence of extensive expert professional/clinical knowledge in area supplemented by specialist clinical training and CPD
  • Expert knowledge of clinical trials process and regulatory frameworks
  • Working knowledge of national research agenda and national research organizations
