Job summary
Rainbow Ward is seeking a proactive, enthusiastic Band 5 nurse to join the WWL family on our friendly Children’s Ward. The ward has benefited from recent investment to create a sensory zone, and a Teen Zone area, providing age appropriate spaces for our patients, day to day.
Rainbow ward is a 34 bedded integrated paediatric unit, including a 2 bedded HDU, caring for children aged 0 – 16 years with medical and surgical needs, giving staff who work on the ward a diverse range of patients to work with – no two days are ever the same!
We are looking to recruit to a 36 hour post, with a working pattern across 7 days (internal rotation).
NHS Employees should ideally secure their manager’s agreement for a secondment arrangement ideally prior to applying, as this will be a condition of any offer made. This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term basis as It has been established to cover maternity leave and will end in 12 months or when the substantive postholder returns. Whilst this post is advertised on an acting / secondment basis there is the potential that this post may become permanent in the future.
Main duties of the job
In exchange for your hard work and dedication we offer a comprehensive preceptorship package, including medicines management training (including intravenous medications) and two mandatory paediatric study days in a rolling twelve month period. Further development opportunities exist with the chance to mentor students from UCLAN and Edgehill as they pursue their own career as a student nurse, or nurse associate.
Each member of Band 5 nurses is encouraged to pursue an area of specialist interest such as diabetes, or asthma.
Nurses will also have the opportunity to complete APLS training, subject to having completed two years post qualification training.
