Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Band 5 Radiographer to join our patient centred team of friendly Radiography staff for 37.5 hours per week .
Applications are welcome from third year Radiography Students who are due to qualify in Summer 2026
Main duties of the job
As a Radiographer you will have the opportunity to work closely with a variety of stakeholders including GP’s , neighbouring health boards, MIU, Dental, Midwifery and NOUS services therefore good communication skills are essential.
You will be based in Brecon Community hospital and will be required to work across other sites such as Llandrindod Wells and Ystradgynlais community hospital depending on service need.
We are a forward-looking department with opportunities for training and role development. Continuing professional development is actively encouraged.
We would particularly welcome applications from Welsh speakers; but even if you don’t speak any Welsh, or want to develop your skills, don’t worry: the health board will support you with training.

- D.C.R.(R) or BSc in Diagnostic Radiography State Registered Radiographer Current HPC Registration Professional knowledge acquired through degree or due to qualify summer 2026

- To be skilled in plain x-ray techniques and the use of CR, RIS and PAC’s systems To be able to use computer packages and the RIS system To demonstrate a full understanding and principles of the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations IR(ME)R 2017 and amended regulations 2024 and the Ionising Radiations Regulations (IRR) 2017
- To demonstrate good verbal communication skills with different patient groups Able to undertake a wide range of general diagnostic X-ray examinations and associated administration duties Able to undertake moving and handling of patients and equipment within the service area Have a full understanding of infection prevention and control within the service area
- Demonstrate PTHB Values
- Ability to travel between sites in a timely manner
Desirable
- Some ability to speak, read and/or write Welsh, or an eagerness to learn.
