Job summary

We are seeking a Locum Consultant Rhinologist to join our dynamic ENT department for a 12-month fixed-term post. This is an exciting opportunity to oversee and develop the Rhinology service while contributing to a broader general ENT workload.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care, supporting elective recovery, and shaping innovative service pathways across North Cumbria.

This role offers the chance to:

Main duties of the job

  • Deliver a comprehensive ENT service, including Rhinology and general ENT care.
  • Undertake outpatient clinics, elective and emergency surgery, and patient management.
  • Participate in the Consultant on-call rota (1 in 6).
  • Provide clinical advice and support to junior staff, GPs, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Lead and contribute to clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement.
  • Support teaching, supervision, and training of junior doctors and students.
  • Engage in service development, business planning, and innovation initiatives

  • Full Registration with the General Medical Council
  • Fellow of Royal College of Surgeons or equivalent
  • Proof of competency in emergency and elective index cases
  • Management & Administrative

Desirable

  • Advanced Training in specialist aspects of Otorhinolaryngology
  • Other relevant postgraduate qualification
  • MaEntry on the GMC specialist register via relevant CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview), relevant CESR or European Community Rightsnagement & Administrative
