Job summary

This new 10 PA post in Adult Liaison Psychiatry has arisen in the Mental Health Liaison team, Portsmouth, to work alongside the 10 PA consultant Liaison Psychiatrist. As a psychiatrist, we are looking for a forward thinking, dynamic change agent who would offer first class clinical leadership within our Mental Health services. Clinical work will focus on inpatients and those attending the Emergency Department in Queen Alexandra Hospital.

Main duties of the job

The Adult Liaison Psychiatry Specialist Doctor post will be part of a wider Liaison team covering adults and older adults. This post exists alongside another adult consultant liaison psychiatrist covering the 18-65-year-old patients. The post is envisaged to bring additional seniority and experience to the team. In addition, there are three experienced consultant psychiatrists for older people’s liaison (one 8 PA, one 7 PA and one 6 PA) post.

You will be part of an experienced, well-functioning and friendly liaison psychiatry team, which includes Band 8a liaison Service Manager, Band 8a Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Band 7 team leaders, emergency care and clinical nurse specialists, Band 6 adult mental health practitioners, Band 3 Health Care Support Workers, Peer Support Workers, Liaison Psychologists and administration team.

Essential

  • Recognised basic Medical Degree
  • Full GMC Registration with license to practice
  • Section 12(2) approved
  • Approved clinician status or working towards approved clinician status
