Job summary
It is an exciting time to join our welcoming and friendly team of 27 Anaesthetic Consultants based at Glangwili General Hospital. The successful candidate will support the current establishment of NHS and academic staff contributing to the on-call rota, and providing senior anaesthetic cover for elective, emergency and trauma surgery
There are opportunities for the successful candidate to deliver clinical care on emergency and trauma lists and gain further experience and expertise in a variety of specialities, including general surgery, ENT, and Ophthalmology.
Main duties of the job
The post is for a Locum Consultant Anaesthetist with a specialist interest in Peri-operative medicine. The post holder will provide high quality care for patients within the anaesthetic Department and provide perioperative care for elective and emergency patients across the range of specialities available within Hywel Dda UHB. The candidate will join a team of consultants with an interest in Peri-operative medicine, doing High Risk pre-assessment, CPET clinics and assisting with our Pre-habilitation service.

Qualifications
Essential
- Full registration and a License to Practice with the General Medical Council.
- Valid Certified Advanced Life Support.
- Completion of relevant Royal College Examinations (or equivalent).
Desirable
- Additional clinical qualification(s).
Clinical Experience
Essential
- Broad based experience within the specialty area.
- Able to demonstrate core competencies and clinical skills relevant to the post.
- Evidence of leading a team.
Desirable
- Previous experience working in the UK or NHS.
Teaching
Essential
- Ability to critically assess learning requirements for self and others.
- Evidence of organising programmes and teaching medical students and resident doctors.
- Willingness to teach all grades of professional multidisciplinary staff.
Desirable
- Teaching qualification.
Research and Scholarship

- Demonstrates knowledge of current research and best practice in the specialty area.
- Evidence of keeping up to date with current research and best practice.
- Evidence of locating and using clinical guidelines appropriately.
