Senior Cardiac Physiologist – Cardiac Invasive Services
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated and forward-thinking Senior Cardiac Physiologist to join the Cardiology Department at Barts Health NHS Trust. Based primarily at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, the successful candidate will work as part of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team delivering a comprehensive range of invasive and non-invasive cardiology services, with cross-site working across the Trust as required.The role will involve supporting the day-to-day delivery of cardiac investigations and procedures, including cardiac catheter laboratory procedures, cardiac rhythm management pathways, device follow-up clinics and a range of non-invasive diagnostic tests. The successful applicant will also contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives, and the training and supervision of junior staff and trainees.PLEASE NOTE: This vacancy is recruiting for 3 roles (1 permanent full time role, 1 fixed term 12 months full time role and 1 fixed term 12 months part time(22.5 hours) role. The fixed term posts are for Maternity cover.
Main duties of the job
Applicants should be competent in non-invasive cardiac investigations and have experience working within a cardiac catheter laboratory environment. Experience in cardiac rhythm management, including pacemaker, ICD and CRT follow-up, would be advantageous. Qualifications
Essential
- oBSc Cardiac Science or equivalent
- oBHRS/IBHRE accreditation (working towards, in part or completed)
- oImmediate Life Support
Desirable
- .SCST/RCCP/AHCS/HCPC registration.
- .IBHRE/BHRS/EHRA certification
Experience
Essential
- .Experience across a broad range of cardiac diagnostic and intervention procedures
- .Experience working in a healthcare environment, working alongside clinical and managerial staff
- .Experience of communicating directly with patients/carers and visitors
Desirable
- oExperience in device implant and follow up
- oExperience of training people
- oAbility to perform a range of diagnostic tests and provide factual reports with minimum supervision

- oKnowledge of catheter lab procedures
- oKnowledge of brady-pacemaker implant and follow up, Complex Devices (CRT/ICD) implant/optimisation/follow-up
- oKnowledge of implantable loop recorder implant, follow up and pathways
- oKnowledge of ECG procedures, physiologist led exercise stress testing.
