Applications are invited for two Consultant Gastroenterologists to join the dynamic and forward-thinking Gastroenterology Department at Milton Keynes NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to join team dedicated to deliver high-quality patient care, service innovation, and clinical excellence.
The successful candidates will contribute to a comprehensive gastroenterology service, working alongside a supportive multidisciplinary team within a modern and expanding department. The posts offer opportunities to develop specialist interests while participating fully in inpatient service, outpatient clinics, endoscopy, and on-call services.
We welcome applications from candidates holding CCT/CESR (or equivalent) in Gastroenterology. One of the post would welcome candidates with experience in capsule endoscopy and doing advanced polypectomies including EMRs. The 2nd post is general gastroenterology with interest in UGI luminal therapeutic/HPB candidates with developing expertise and a demonstrable commitment to other areas in gastroenterology will be fully supported through training, mentorship, and service development opportunities. Any qualifications or experience as trainer and educator will be appreciated also.
Applicants must hold CCT/CESR in Gastroenterology (or equivalent qualifications recognised by the GMC) or be within six months of obtaining CCT at the time of interview. CESR applicants must have written GMC confirmation of a successful application.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidates will join a committed team, contributing to the maintenance and enhancement of the provision of the gastroenterology and hepatology services, as well as meeting the demands of the endoscopy service.
The role encompasses mainly providing general endoscopy as well as gastroenterology clinics, there is also the ability to develop services if this is an area of special interest.
The candidates will be expected to embrace the other aspects of DGH gastroenterology including attendance and involvement with UGI MDT, and will be required to partake in the out of hours GI bleeding rota and future expansion of 7 day service.

Essential
- Medical degree MRCP(UK) diploma or equivalent
- Full GMC registration and Specialist Registration
- Accreditation in General (internal) Medicine and Gastroenterology
Desirable
- Higher degree in relevant subject
Experience/ Training
Essential
- Higher specialist training with CCT in Gastroenterology
- CESR (Certificate of Eligibility for specialist registration
- Advanced Life Support Certificate
- Demonstrable experience in Clinical Governance activities
- Demonstrable experience in teaching
- Interest and commitment to gastroenterology
Desirable
- Experience of involvement in service developments
Knowledge
Essential
- Knowledge and application of up to date evidence based practice
- Understanding the governance as relevant to the post
Desirable
- IT skills
- Breadth of experience within and outside specialty
Clinical Skills

- Accredited and independent for upper and lower endoscopy
- Understanding of clinical risk management.
