Job summary
This post will be joining a compliment of 34 Consultant Radiologists responsible for the provision of Radiological services to Swansea (in Morriston, Singleton and Neath Port Talbot Hospitals) This is a new post joining 5 GI radiologists. Swansea is the referral centre for pancreatic surgery in South Wales generating lots of interesting cases. The successful applicant will attend colorectal, pancreatic and several smaller MDTs on a rota. Non vascular interventional and / or Endoscopic Ultrasound skills are desirable but not essential. The post will be based in Morriston Hospital, Swansea with sessions in Neath Port Talbot Hospital and Singleton hospital. Morriston Hospital is strategically placed on the M4 corridor, has a major Accident and Emergency Department and offers a wide range of general medical and general surgical services to the population of Swansea. The hospital hosts a number of sub-regional, regional and supra-regional specialist services.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the general on-call rota for Swansea, which is currently on a 1 in 18 basis, covering inpatient scanning at Morriston. They will also be taking part in a ‘hot-reporting’ rota covering urgent in-patient CT reporting. The successful applicant will attend colorectal, pancreatic and several smaller MDTs on a rota. Non vascular interventional skills are desirable but not essential. Access to ultrasound, fluoroscopy and CT Imaging guidance is available across all three sites. The Health Board has committed to enhancing Radiology provision on weekends. Currently, a ‘predictable on-call session’, i.e. a resident session, is offered each weekend day between in exchange for time back in lieu. This may change depending on the needs of the department. Home Tele-Radiology is accessible via a laptop with VPN access, enabling MPR capabilities. Currently, there are 13 trainees on rotation in Swansea, which has facilitated a night shift.

- Registered with the GMC

- On Specialist Register with GMC in Radiology or eligible for CCT within 6 months of date of interview and have passed exit exam or a statement of eligibility for registration issued by PMETB or a primary medical qualification and recognized specialist qualification from a European Member State which will allow direct entry to the GMC Specialist Register
